Portland Pine

Portland Pine Products, operating from Heywood in Southwest Victoria was established in 1976 and is one of the largest manufacturers of treated round wood products in Australia. It is a part of the AKD Softwoods Group who are a 100 per cent Australian owned fully integrated plantation forestry and timber processing company.

NTP Forklifts Australia recently provided them with a Manitou MX50-4 fitted with a side shifting fork positioner. The MX50-4 is an upgrade from their previous forklift that was a costly wheel loader equivalent.

The MX50-4 is perfectly suited to handling operations on uneven terrain. It comes equipped with a generous ground clearance and a tight turning radius of 3.4m making it easier to load and unload their trucks. The side shifting fork allows for more flexibility and consequently greater efficiency and productivity thanks to the 100mm sideshift.

The machine also enables Portland Pine to gain more storage space in their yard to hold their stock piles.

The operators enjoyed how the unit operated and appreciated the comfort of a closed air conditioned cabin and air ride seat.

Overall the team at Portland Pine are extremely happy with their new purchase. Ryan Carroll and the team in Melbourne are looking forward to further assisting them increasing their productivity with more Manitou products in the future.
