More yellow in Sunshine

Australia Post’s Metropolitan Parcel Facility at Sunshine in Victoria took delivery of more new Jungheinrich EFG 218’s. The delivery of the new trucks in early February was fitted with 2 Exide maintenance free 600ah shift batteries per truck.

We have completely retro fitted their battery room with T-Park stations replacing the older “Gantry Crane” system. Exide high frequency chargers and an Exide 2100.net "state of the art" battery queuing system. The 2100.net system was recommended to reduce opportunity charging. This system has a visual wall display that directs the operator to the next available charged battery.  If the operator tries in any way to circumvent this system by taking any other battery than the displayed one, an error message scrolls across the screen (pictured) at the same time an audible alarm is sounded and a blue flashing light goes off that can only be shut off by a manager with a key.

This is the first time Australia Post has invested in a system of this kind and they are keen to reap the rewards of extended battery life and reduced problems.

The EFG218’s pictured are to be primarily used inside the facility complemented by the TCM 1.8 & 2.5t’s which are being used on the outside dock operations.
