Allied Pickfords get a big TCM
The new unit was purpose built for this customer from TCM Japan and was painted in corporate colours. It was supplied with a fully enclosed cabin and clear view 2 stage mast capable of lifting to 4500 mm high.
Allied Pickford’s were looking for a reliable materials handling solution to help shift bulk containers around their yard. They also need the unit to load/unload the containers onto their flatbed trucks for transport to and from Melbourne.
The problem they faced was that some areas of the depot did not have much room for a large forklift to operate – so Allied Pickford’s were looking for a forklift company that could supply a forklift that not only had a strong lift capacity to handle the required weight of the containers but a truck that would also be compact enough in size to handle the tight areas of the yard for stacking the shipping containers 2 high.
Allied Pickford’s turned to NTP Forklifts Australia and the TCM big truck range to provide the solution. By incorporating the use of a Cascade side pick frame with top twist locks, coupled with the compact wheelbase dimensions of the TCM FD160S-3 unit, Allied found a forklift that could do the job.
Not only can the TCM FD160S-3 operate with an extremely tight turning circle for their operations, but additionally the 8000 kg lifting capacity that the FD160S-3 unit provided at maximum lift height (inclusive of the side pick frame) allows the operators feel extremely safe and secure when handling the containers.
The customer looked at three alternative suppliers for pricing and specifications on this type for forklift – however none were able to offer the complete solution that Allied Pickford’s required for this delicate operation and informed NTP that in the end the decision was simple.
In the FD160S-3 they have a forklift that has plenty of lift capacity and performance, exactly the right attachment and above all the right supplier to service and maintain the equipment to the highest standards.
